Week 1: We stepped out of the mission into Oregon. It was our daughter’s birthday and Zone Conferences started on Monday in Eureka (which made it closer to where she was); so with the President’s permission we went early to spend time with her. And… she got engaged!
Face Rock in Bandon, Oregon— do you see the face of the princess rising out of the ocean?
Tella & Joe, us, Nelle & Mattie (engaged)
Before we left, we said goodbye to our dear friends the Larsens who went home while we were gone. Their replacements, the Nates came. We are so blessed to be serving with such righteous and capable individuals. “Surround yourselves with inspiration and righteousness!”
We left Bandon and traveled to Eureka for our 1st zone conference of the week. The coastline was absolutely beautiful!
We stopped at Trees of Mystery— yup—a Paul Bunyan welcome.
Walking through the trees. There was also a sky walk:
Week 2 zone Conferences
Eureka zone Conference
We said goodbye to the Hansens. Well done, good and faithful servants!
Ukiah zone Conference was next. The Relief Society in each Stake fixes our lunch. We appreciate their hard work! (We love Sisters Clifton and Piippo.)
This is what we see as we travel to Fairfield— vineyards cover the land.
The young missionaries conduct and teach! It’s inspiring to hear them. Elder Young conducting.
I never get tired of seeing palm trees!
Fairfield/Napa Zone Conference—our APs (assistants to the President) Elders Wiley and Lee carry heavy responsibilities— they are amazing!
Elder Poulsen conducting at Vacaville/Woodland — we LOVE our missionaries! Elder Poulsen is #1 in our opinion! He served in the office for 8 months, then went out into the field to “watch over the missionaries” ❤️ They were blessed— we miss him!
Sisters Curtis & Hinton❤️❤️❤️
And back home to the Santa Rosa/SanRafael zones.
Do you see the joy of these two! President and Sister Quinn lead with joy and love! “High expectations, High love!”
When directed, we do a short teaching presentation in the conferences. Elder Kennan is “Cool, Cool!”
Week 3
After zone Conference week, we’re back to ‘regular’ weeks— if there is such a thing! A windshield needed to be replaced. Here we met the missionaries so they could get their car repaired. The TIWI device had to be disconnected— Elder Smith was HAPPY to do so!
Elders Murphy, Smith, Chandler and Mourik.
Back up to Eureka for a car exchange. It’s too far to go up and back in a day, so we have to stay over a night. We feed the missionaries whenever we can and if they have time. Did someone say food?!!! They are always hungry! Sisters Sutton, Pletsch & Allen; on the right: Elders Shields & Fano; Lee & Wiley
I wanted to go to the sea glass museum in Ft Bragg on the way home. It’s a zigzagging road, but worth the drive. This is the glass beach.
In the museum the ‘Captain’ told us about a miniature train museum, so we stopped there, too.
The 2 houses are in Eureka. The train station filled the whole building and also had scenes and working miniatures outside as well.
Sisters Piippo and Gordan were serving in Ft Bragg so we invited them to lunch before driving home. The sea glass is from garbage dumped into the ocean. It’s rolled and polished by the waves and the sand.
We ended the week celebrating an anniversary dinner with the Lunds, good friends from our ward. Spending time with and for missionaries is THE best!(One of the benefits of serving in the office.)❤️Sisters Loosli, Chase, & Kolowich;
Elders White, Robinson, Berkland, & Rosenberg.
August week 4– Whenever I can, I go for a walk in the neighborhood by our mission office. I love to see the various plants along the way. The leaves are starting to change even though it’s been in the high 90s and 100s a couple of days.
We drove to Fairfield— abt 1.5 hr one way to deliver gas cards and to trade out a car. The metal statue is of a wine press. Part of our mission is in the famous Napa Wine Valley.
One day, the Hermanas invited us to come to their apartment to eat our lunch— all of the sisters nearby came— maybe in their area? I really haven’t figured that out — 🎶As Sisters in Zion🎶 Beautiful! Righteous! Amazing! Sisters!
Back row: Sisters Bailey, Lee, Loosli; Hermanas Chase & Smart. Front row: Sisters Brady & Kolowich & Sister Nate ( I was taking the photo.)
We drove back to Fairfield to do apartment inspections. I always try to take a little something to give them. Most of the time the apartments are well taken care of! It’s a joy to go and see their study areas and clean rooms! And if they are available— THEM!
Sister Curtis and Hinton— I look forward to their love, hugs, joy, and their amazing testimonies.
Back home, school started, hikes were taken, memories made with grandchildren and family.
The top photo was a fantastic joke played on Elder Kennan. Many of the car accidents here are of hitting poles. Elders Poulsen and Dixon photoshopped this picture just for him😂😂😂
Our tech leaders are professionals! They were painting props for part of their set. The middle photos are at a baptism— Do you see the brightness of Elders Meyer, Hall, Riofrio & Searls? Oh how they shine! Sisters Kolowich, Willard and Vandenberg = ❤️
We finished off the month with a birthday celebration (a surprise— Elder Wilson forgot 😉)
Left: Elders Jensen, Lee, Bracken & Harlan

Sisters Lee & Brady; Hermanas Chase & Smart
Elder & Sister Lemon Right: are the Wilsons
AND — a baptism❤️
“Our purpose is to Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism.”
“You, His missionaries, are ‘chosen out of the world,’ the Lord decrees, ‘to declare my gospel with the sound of rejoicing, as with the voice of a trump’ (Doctrine and Covenants 29:4),” he said. “You bear His name for all to see.”
Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life.
Hoo-rah for Is-ra-el!
